Anyone planning to build a house in Germany and wishing to receive funding from KfW must meet sustainability criteria. These are confirmed by the Quality Seal for Sustainable Buildings, or QNG for short.

The QNG seal is an official, state seal of quality that considers a building in combination with its surroundings as a holistic system. Therefore, not only the energy consumption during use plays a role, but also the entire life cycle, including the production of the materials used and their impact on health.

The idea behind it is similar to LEED, which is already widely used internationally on a voluntary basis for large-scale projects (Admont products also have detailed documentation for verifiers)

The catalog of criteria in the QNG handbook ensures that requirements for climate protection, resource conservation, health protection and the quality of the planning process are met. The health effects of the building materials used on the subsequent users are therefore key factors, as there is no certificate without health-tested, healthy building products. All the requirements that materials must meet can be found in Annex 3.1.3 of the QNG. This document specifies maximum pollutant values, for example.

At the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein, a classroom (2L year) has recently been converted into an acoustics class thanks to full sponsorship by Admonter Holzindustrie AG.

The first step was an on-site measurement of the prevailing room acoustic properties of the classroom, specifically in the form of its reverberation times. A simulation calculation based on this measurement data provided the absorber sizes required for acoustic optimization and their positioning in the room. Based on these plans, two types of acoustic elements were then installed on the ceiling and one wall of the classroom by carpenters from Admonter Holzindustrie AG during the summer vacation.
