Living with the best of nature

The power of the forest for a better indoor climate

In our latitudes we spend 90% of the time indoors. This makes it all the more important to use raw materials that are as natural, sustainable and low in pollutants as possible in your home – because indoor air that is as low in pollutants as possible is an important prerequisite for health and well-being. Wood is also a real all-rounder when it comes to healthy living.

Wood is good for people and the climate.

Wood lowers the heart rate.

International studies have shown that there is a connection between wood and low heart rate.

Natural wood floors are hygienic.

While microorganisms can live for a long time on plastic fibers, they die quickly on wood.

Wood is good for the indoor climate.

It absorbs moisture from the environment and can release it again if necessary.

Wood is sustainable.

As a renewable raw material, wood is one of the most natural materials for interior design and brings warmth and comfort to every room.

Admonter and the environment

At Admonter, we take our responsibility for people’s well-being and an intact environment very seriously. Our certifications and approvals prove the quality of our raw materials and our products. In many areas we also go the extra mile and voluntarily meet criteria that are not a legal requirement.

You don’t see them and yet they are there:
VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds)

VOCs can be of completely natural origin. hey are also contained in wood and wood-based materials, among other things, and are partly responsible for the pleasant smell of wood. However, in appropriate concentrations they reduce indoor air quality. Possible VOC sources can be construction chemical products, furnishings and everyday items or cleaning and care products. Since these are different substances with equally different effects on human health, the risk potential cannot be assessed across the board.

The current legal situation

There are currently no Europe-wide harmonized limit values for VOC emissions to indoor air. In addition to some national voluntary examinations, only a few countries have mandatory assessment systems. In France, since 2012, furnishings and construction products have had to be classified and labeled with regard to their VOC emission behavior before they are placed on the market.

All Admonter multi-layer solid wood products fall below the limits of the strictest class “A+” (very low emissions).

Formaldehyde

One of the best-known volatile organic compounds is formaldehyde, a colorless substance with a pungent smell when concentrated and a gaseous substance at room temperature. It occurs in raw wood with an equilibrium concentration of less than 0.01 ppm.

We at Admonter are committed to preventing the trivialization of the dangers of formaldehyde exposure:

  • In addition to in-house monitoring, we continually undergo external controls.
  • All solid wood multilayer products are many times below the limits of the currently strictest European formaldehyde class E1.
  • More sensitive testing methods are sometimes common on other continents.
Admonter also meets or falls below these limits.
