Spruce – the protective one

The Germanic tribes considered the spruce a protective tree and was supposed to relieve people of illness. Even today it is often used in natural medicine for cough syrups for colds or as an ointment containing spruce resin for tension or inflammation. Due to its properties, spruce is also popular in wood processing:

  • Softer and more elastic than other types of wood
  • Lower weight
  • Easier to process

Spruce wood is currently the most common type of wood in Europe. In Austria alone it covers 64% of the total forest area and is therefore the most common tree in domestic forests.
