Its timeless beauty and natural simplicity have shaped our craftsmanship and our way of thinking from the very beginning. The “Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes” (PEFC) is an independent certification that wood and wood products come from responsibly managed forests.
It is one of the world’s largest timber certification systems and ensures that our forests, with their diverse functions, are preserved for future generations
(vgl. www.pefc.at).
Conserving Energy: Wood scraps generated during the production process that cannot be reused as raw material are utilized to generate energy at the company’s own heating plant. The energy from the Admont heating plant supplies the entire office and factory complex of Admonter Holzindustrie and, through its connection to the local district heating network, also supplies the entire Admont Benedictine Abbey and approximately 200 households.

The Austrian Ecolabel is a government-awarded seal of quality that identifies products that are manufactured in an environmentally friendly manner. Products marked with the eco-label for use indoors have no or only low levels of pollutants and thus make an important contribution to indoor air quality (see Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management, publication The Austrian Eco-label 2014).
Whether new construction or renovation: For most building families today, sustainable construction is a given. It is important to take into account the environmental properties of the materials used over the entire life cycle of a building – from construction to recycling. On the not always uncomplicated path to a sustainable home, the environmental product declaration EPD is an important and, above all, neutral instrument for orientation.
The EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) is intended to make it easier for building families, architects and processors to compare the environmental impacts of different products. An EPD is a neutral instrument for communicating the environmental properties of products and their production, tested by an independent body and according to uniform rules. In addition to certifications and approvals, companies are free to create the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). The EPD is a neutral instrument for communicating the environmental properties of a product. It documents the environmental performance across the product life cycle “ecological footprint” – based on a life cycle assessment. The program holder of our EPD is the German Institute for Building and Environment (IBU).
Anyone planning to build a house in Germany and wishing to receive a grant from KfW must meet sustainability criteria. These are certified by the “Sustainable Buildings” quality seal, or QNG for short.
Since we at Admonter stand for certified quality, we have now had the majority of our environmentally relevant product tests specifically certified by the Sentinel Institute according to the QNG criteria and have received the designation for QNG-Ready products.
Many of the points discussed here are currently not a legal requirement. However, we take our responsibility for the environment and the future of our planet very seriously. Our goal is to leave as small an ecological footprint as possible – which is why we continue to work to improve every day.
