In our latitudes, we spend 90 % of our time indoors. This makes it all the more important to use natural, sustainable and low-pollutant raw materials in the home – because indoor air that is as low in pollutants as possible is an important prerequisite for health and well-being. Wood is also a real all-rounder when it comes to healthy living.
International studies have shown that there is a connection between wood and a low heart rate.
While microorganisms are viable for a long time on synthetic fibers, they die quickly on wood.
It absorbs moisture from the environment and can also release it again if required.
As a renewable raw material, wood is one of the most natural materials for interior design and brings warmth and comfort to any room.
At Admonter, we take our responsibility for the well-being of people and for an intact environment very seriously. Our certifications and approvals prove the quality of our raw materials and our products. In many areas, we also go the extra mile and voluntarily fulfill criteria that are not legally required.
VOCs can be of completely natural origin. They are also contained in wood and wood-based materials and are partly responsible for the pleasant smell of wood. However, in appropriate concentrations they reduce indoor air quality. Possible sources of VOCs can be construction chemicals, furnishings and utensils or cleaning and care products. As these are different substances with equally different effects on human health, the hazard potential cannot be assessed across the board.
There are currently no harmonized Europe-wide limit values for VOC emissions to indoor air. In addition to some national voluntary audits, only a few countries have mandatory assessment systems. In France, since 2012, furnishings and construction products must be classified and labeled with regard to their VOC emission behavior before they are placed on the market.
One of the best-known volatile organic compounds is formaldehyde, a colorless substance that smells pungent in concentrated form and is gaseous at room temperature. It occurs in raw wood with an equalizing concentration of less than 0.01 ppm.
We at Admonter are against the trivialization of the dangers of formaldehyde exposure:
