Home story Barefoot in Vienna

Home story Barefoot in Vienna

In the middle of Vienna, yet surrounded by green nature: just north of the Danube, Nina and Markus have set up their home in a bright two-storey house. It's the ideal place for them to live their togetherness and still be right in the middle of things!

But first…coffee

When Nina and Markus relax with coffee and cake at the weekend, they sometimes like to do so on the floor. They have deliberately chosen the floor so that they feel comfortable walking barefoot on it.

You have opted for a natural wood floor in Frijo oak (stone) vivid and have therefore made a good choice. The light-colored natural wood floor blends in well with the modern interior and looks anything but boring thanks to the grain.

Urban Jungle

They haven’t lived in this apartment for too long, and the furnishings are still minimalist and minimalist. However, when asked about this, they admit that they wouldn’t have it much differently. The reduction to the essentials helps them to relax in their home. The many plants play their part in this.

So Nina and Markus seem to know quite well what they want to let into their lives and what they don’t: lots of nature, good food, high-quality coffee and natural living materials are definitely part of it.

Scandinavian living in Lower Bavaria.

Light and love

Lots of wood and plenty of natural light – these are the main ingredients in the home of the Poxrucker family from Bavaria.

Kristina and Thomas have always dreamed of having their own home. Now they have made it come true in the form of a solid wood house: an absolute dream home with lots of space, light – and an Admont natural wood floor in the color “Frosti” (white). This elegantly connects the kitchen, dining room and living room, where the family spends most of their time.

An Admonter “barefoot floor” was also chosen for the bedroom, as the couple like it minimalist and clean.

The family at the center

The lively design of the floor that the couple opted for reflects the diversity of the lively family life that enlivens the house every day. For Kristina, this is also what makes it feel like home: She feels most at home where her three husbands are.

When designing the interior, the Poxruckers also held back on colors and gimmicks. The result is bright, flooded with light and – thanks to all the wood – very warm. But that may yet change, says Thomas: “We want to see what suits us over the years. In our opinion, the best ideas come when you’re already living in the house.”

They now enjoy this “living” to the full. Preferably with the whole family, without obligations – and with cake!

A river surrounded by trees meanders between gentle hills in the heart of Bavarian Franconia. There, in a small town, one house in particular stands out: the home of Vanessa, her husband and her son. This home impresses with modern elements and simple elegance. The family has been living there on 206m² since January 2021 and we visited them for the home story.

Modern living feeling

The house has a classic layout. There is a spacious cellar, a guest bathroom on the ground floor, guest rooms and the kitchen with a large, open-plan living and dining area. On the upper floor there are two children’s rooms, a bathroom and the bedroom with dressing room.

The Admonter Frosti oak flooring (white) was laid by a professional on the stairs from the ground floor to the first floor and throughout the first floor (except in the bathroom). The parquet is not only an absolute visual highlight, it simply feels really good and exudes an absolutely cozy living feeling.

Nature in the house

It was important to the family to use natural materials in the house and to bring a bit of nature into the home. The Admonter floor was a perfect fit.

It’s the people you live with here – the family – that make you feel at home. In terms of the house, however, the feeling of being at home is also due to the fact that a place has been created where you can spend a lot of time together thanks to the open living concept on the ground floor and there are also cozy retreats for everyone.

Clean elegance

The style is minimalist. Some find the house or the furnishings cool or uninviting. The family, on the other hand, feels most comfortable when everything is kept simple and “clean”.

What is particularly or most appreciated is the amount of space in the house. And the high ceilings and gallery make everything look even more spacious. Vanessa’s personal highlight is the master bathroom, which is a piece of wellness oasis for you at home.

Homestory Villa Wu

Homestory Villa Wu

Carina and Wolfgang have opted for a very modern style. All the furnishings are stylish and perfectly coordinated. They have managed to create a feel-good space in every room. You feel very safe everywhere in the house.

Modern room concept

Pure Ondo Sanjo oak was laid throughout the upper floor. The staircase was also embellished with oak parquet and the special feature of the dream home in Kremsmünster is the exposed concrete ceiling. This creates a harmonious contrast between the wooden floor and the concrete look. The black kitchen with its matt finish is also a place to linger. This is where life happens. People cook, celebrate, eat, laugh and chat. According to the landlords, this is where most of the time is spent. In the summer months, Carina and Wolfgang enjoy their own pool, which fits perfectly into the garden.

Wonderful harmony

When it came to the floor, Carina and Wolfgang told us that it was chosen for its color, feel, look and grain. No other floor could hold a candle to the Admont floor. The fact that the floor was laid throughout the entire house created a wonderful harmony.

The transitions to the other rooms were made so clean that you almost don’t notice them. The skirting boards are flush with the wall and all the doors in the house were installed flush.

Everyone who entered the house that day was delighted with the interior style and the parquet flooring was a particular source of delight. That’s what makes a perfect room concept.

Homestory living happiness love

Homestory living happiness love

After waiting a long time for a building plot, Lisa and her husband Sebastian from Rhineland-Palatinate decided to buy a house after all.It turned out to be a bungalow that they renovated from top to bottom. Included: natural wood flooring in Frijo oak (stone) vivid, which the couple are completely delighted with.

Living happiness in gentle harmony.

The bungalow from 2006 has a basement and 165 m² of living space. Enough space for the young family, including their one-year-old daughter Sophia, to live happily.

When you see the pictures of the interior, it’s immediately clear that this is the home of someone who likes things to be harmonious and cozy. You won’t find bright colors here – white, cream and beige set the tone. The wood element is not only found on the floor, but also on the walls. In addition, the lady of the house has brought natural coziness into the house with tasteful details (bouquets of flowers, dried wreaths).

Calm colors, lots of wood and nature

Lisa and Sebastian opted for Frijo (stone) vivid oak from Admonter after seeing the floor at a regional exhibitor. They quickly realized that they wanted this natural floor covering in the entire living area: The entire first floor (hallway, guest WC, living-dining-kitchen, hallway, children’s room, dressing room and bedroom) is now covered in Frijo (stone) oak – and the family is super happy with it!

They are so happy that they are even considering laying their favorite floor in the two – as yet unused – living rooms in the basement. Lisa: “So far, we are really impressed with the look, feel, care and robustness of our Admonter flooring. Our daughter loves walking barefoot on the floorboards and the doll’s pram has already covered several kilometers on it over the months – without leaving a single scratch on the floor. Especially in the children’s room, the floor has to put up with a lot!”

10 years of business meets school

Joint project between Admont secondary school and Admonter Holzindustrie AG

Young skilled workers are a company’s potential for the future, which is one reason why Admonter has been training motivated young people who want to become part of the company with passion and skill in various interesting disciplines for 10 years.

What many people don’t know is that there are currently seven different apprenticeships at Admonter (carpenter, wood technician, metal technician, industrial clerk, …).

The joint project “Business meets school” was launched in the 2013/14 school year on the initiative of the then Admont secondary school principal Sonja Vucsina and the Admont works council member Erich Berger.

Started as a pilot project, the project has now been running regularly for 10 years and is very popular with the students, but also with the people responsible in the company and at school.

Silvia Jetz, Director of MS Admont, and Sabine Stachl, Head of Human Resources at Admonter AG, agree: “Our collaboration has grown and intensified over the last 10 years and we are absolutely committed to continuing the project for the next 10 years.”

“Around 25 young people have completed their apprenticeship through the project work at Admonter AG, which we are extremely proud of and shows the added value of the collaboration. Our aim is to establish contact with young people from the region at an early stage and to awaken their interest in an apprenticeship at Admonter,” says Sabine Stachl from Admonter AG.

Under the expert guidance of apprentice trainers Roman Zandl and Christian Nistelberger, workpieces such as a wooden stool, cutting boards, electric motors and much more are created. manufactured. At the same time, the young people also get to know the current apprentices and can exchange ideas with them intensively about an apprenticeship at Admonter AG. Here’s to the next ten years!

With an Admonter natural wood floor you are choosing excellent quality and a genuine natural product. With a little skill and the usual woodworking tools, installation can be done quickly and easily.

With an Admonter natural wood floor you are choosing excellent quality and a genuine natural product. With a little skill and the usual woodworking tools, installation can be done quickly and easily.

Before you start laying the floor, it makes sense to sort the floorboards by color in advance, as the type of installation can have a specific impact on the appearance of the room.

If the floorboards are laid in a gradient color scheme, they give the floor a homogeneous character; if light and dark floorboards are deliberately mixed, a lively, rustic appearance is achieved. The same floorboards in the same room can appear completely different depending on how they are installed.

Cleaning and care of parquet

Cleaning and care of parquet

4 steps to a perfectly cleaned parquet floor

1. cleaning is the be-all and end-all

Dirt, dust and small stones can scratch the surface in the long term and damage the wood. Therefore, the basis of any parquet care is simple cleaning. The gentlest way to sweep the floor is with a broom. When using a vacuum cleaner, an attachment with an integrated brush should be used. In this way, dust and dirt are gently removed from the floor surface and more severe soiling or damage can be prevented.

The brush glides gently over the wood, removes dust, gives the floor shine and pride, a touch of purity, a dance of care, parquet shines and does not appear sluggish.

2. gentle care: radiant floors in no time at all

3. wait and see and drink tea

4. parquet in the spotlight: new shine for old floors
