Taking design to a new level

Taking design to a new level

In addition to natural wood flooring, Admonter also offers coordinated wall cladding, natural wood panels for furniture construction, interior doors and acoustic solutions for individual design options.

Admonter is not only at home on the floor, but turns entire rooms into a natural wood experience

Admonter natural wood products are not only available in different types of wood and countless color variations, but also with different structures, thicknesses and grades – tailored to your needs and made to measure.

A good atmosphere starts with the right floor. It is the basis for what is to come. No matter which home design you choose – from scandi style to modern naturalness, pure design or alpine chic – a natural wood floor gives every room a very special atmosphere.

The choice of different types of wood and finishes is just as natural as varying widths and lengths of planks. Each of them has its own characteristics and fits into your own personal world.

A three- or two-layer structure prevents the natural warping of the wood and ensures that you can rely on your natural wood floor for a lifetime. So much for the technical side, everything else is entirely up to you and your preferences.

Admonter acoustic panels offer design with functional added value. Elegant and lightweight acoustic elements made of wood that improve room acoustics and either absorb or amplify sound when used in a targeted manner. This makes them an attractive, ecological and functional solution, especially for sales rooms, restaurants, hotels, offices, seminar rooms, lecture halls and ballrooms.

An elegant table, a rustic chest, a luxurious yet rustic sauna or an extravagant sideboard – with Admonter natural wood panels, design dreams take shape. The specially created Galleria and Cube wall elements provide ready-to-install solutions so that walls and ceilings are not neglected and processing is simplified as much as possible. Individuality is also a top priority here. And if your desired design is not included, we can make it a reality. Incidentally, this applies to all Admonter product groups.

Our passion? Wood! Our products? Made of wood!

Our passion? Wood! Our products? Made of wood!

Stable structures, durable products. One thing leads to another.

Admonter – the name is both an indication of origin and a commitment and guarantees exclusive production on site in Admont.

The origins of Admonter go back decades. Centuries to be precise. Wood has been processed in the densely wooded surroundings of Admont since 1074. Then industrially from 1874. And since 1972 also by Stift Admont Holzindustrie, STIA for short. In October 2017, the company name and legal form were changed to Admonter Holzindustrie AG.

As Admonter, we are a commercial enterprise of the local Benedictine monastery. We produce natural wood floors, panels, stairs, wall and ceiling cladding, acoustic panels and interior doors – all made from high-quality real wood. Our natural wood products have made a special name for themselves: Admonter. This name is both an indication of origin and a commitment. It guarantees that our products are manufactured exclusively on site. This ensures the high quality of the products and the well-being of a region. A tradition of craftsmanship that has grown over generations is kept alive – and continued. The long-term thinking of the Benedictines has a double effect. Economically and ecologically. With us, customers have the certainty of PEFC certification: the wood we process comes exclusively from sustainably managed forests.

A location with maximum stability.

Admont has been home to a Benedictine monastery for almost 1000 years. They were also the ones who founded the wood processing company Stift Admont, STIA for short, the company behind the Admonter brand, in 1972. They remain its owners to this day. For them, sound business practices are a matter of course. This gives both the people who work here and the products they manufacture the greatest possible stability.

Pine – an extremely tough wood

Pine – an extremely tough wood

The pine is often exposed to very strong winds, as it often grows by the sea or in high mountains, which makes it extremely tough.

Larch – a native wood and more versatile than ever

Larch – a native wood and more versatile than ever

The larch is a typical tree of the mountains and a mixed tree species. With a medium density, it is the heaviest and hardest native conifer (with the exception of yew).

General information

The larch is a typical tree of the mountains and a mixed tree species.
With an average gross density (rN) of 0.60 g/cm3, it is the heaviest and hardest indigenous coniferous wood (with the exception of yew).
Due to its high density, larch wood has good elasto-mechanical properties. In addition to its high load-bearing capacity, it is also highly resistant to weathering.
It accounts for around seven percent of Austria’s productive forest. Larch is said to live for over 800 years and is harvested as timber after 100 to 140 years.

Wood characteristics

The light sapwood (sapwood is the wood in the outer trunk area of a tree before its bark) of the larch is very narrow, the color of the heartwood varies greatly from light brown (so-called grass larch) to intense reddish brown. It darkens considerably. The earlywood/latewood contrast within the growth ring is pronounced, whereby the latewood proportion can be 1/ 2 to 1/ 3 of the growth ring width.
The fine resin canals are primarily found in the latewood.

Characteristics

Larch wood has very good strength properties, but these vary greatly depending on the location, as does the density (400 to 820 kg/m³), which averages 550 kg/m³. The wood is considered to be medium hard (Brinell hardness 19 N/mm²) with good stability. Larch wood is easy to dry and process, although pre-treatment with resin-dissolving agents is sometimes necessary for surface treatment. Due to the hard knots and irregular grain, there is a risk of splintering and tearing. Pre-drilling is recommended as the wood splits easily. In terms of durability against fungi, larch is in class 3 to 4 (moderately to not very durable) and is often overestimated due to its great variability. The impregnability in the heartwood is very poor, in the sapwood moderate.

Usage

Larch wood is used for both exterior and interior applications, both load-bearing and non-load-bearing. It is used for highly stressed structural components as well as in boat building, bridge building, earthworks and hydraulic engineering. In interior construction, it is used for windows and doors, flooring, cladding and furniture. Recently, exterior cladding made of larch has become very popular, which, left natural and unprotected, turns gray after a few years.

Admonter - a workplace with real values and real success stories

From production to quality

Lukas Ettlmayr proves that you can achieve a lot with ambition, skill, knowledge, talent and an employer who supports you. We tell you more about this in the success story of one of our up-and-coming colleagues.

His career began at the HTL and the FH in Kuchl. Lukas successfully completed his training there and then returned home to the Enns Valley. After a few years in the construction industry, he came across the Admont timber industry and took the risk of applying for a job there. After an interesting interview, the time had come and Lukas took up the position of Assistant Production Manager at Admonter in October 2015.

After about a year, this was not enough for him and he insisted on the vacant position of production manager in the slat prefabrication area, including panel presses. Due to Lukas’ commitment, it was unanimously decided that he was made for this position. He therefore took up his post as Production Manager in January 2017.

3 years or 1095 days later, it was time for another change. As technical assistant to the Management Board, Lukas was able to demonstrate his skills in developing a wide range of projects throughout the company. And as is the case in life, there is always an opportunity for those who are predestined for it. In January 2022, he was offered the position of Head of Department in Quality Assurance and Quality Management. Lukas gratefully accepts this offer and proves his talent in this area from now on.

This story shows that with a lot of skill and ambition in your professional life and with the right support from your employer, you can make a successful career in a company. We can’t wait to see what other ace Lukas has up his sleeve for Admonter.
